Trained as a classical clarinetist through high school, I took up saxophone and worked weekends with my father
Johnny Pickard in his trio. I attended the Navy School Of Music upon graduation from high school and toured
the world with a Navy Band.
I have performed in various jazz groups and cover bands including a couple of
years with my wife, Denise Montana and my father as the very succesful trio, NOW AND THEN,.
With the birth of my
youngest son, John, I attended Sally's Music Circle as a parent and found a place where I could use my love of children
and music.
After joining Sally's Music Circle I developed Tom's Music Fun as a Birthday Party business.
It soon took on a life of it's own and I expanded into teaching music at pre-schools including 3 years as the as the music
instructor tor the School in Rose Valleys kinder-garden program. Currently I teach at Child Steps in Havertown
and Newtown Square and Twin Acres in Collegeville, Pa. Montgomery County Early Learning Center , head start program, and Growing
Tree Learning Center in Erdenheim. as well as working for Sally's Music Circle several days a week.
I was
a featured entertainer at the Bicycle Race in Philadelphia for 3 years. I have entertained at the Adoptions From
The Heart picnic for the last 8 years. The South Street Arts Festival has used me to entertain on the street.
Many libraries in the Delaware Valley have played host to my music fun. Birthday parties of all sizes and at locations as
varied as a basement or living room to the Locust Street Club, John Harveys Brew House, and numerous Pizza Parlors have been
venues where I have taken my party excitement.
Using lots of props and hand-held instruments no one is left sitting
on there hands.
As a side note I was Time Magazines man of the year in 2006.
